The Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival is gearing up for its third edition, and it’s all about the fresh faces shaping the future of cinema!
From September 25th to 30th, 2025, young actors who’ve been killing it on the small screen will join forces with producers, directors, and critics to discuss the next big thing in film.
Screenwriter Mohamed El-Basousy, head of the festival, emphasized that the seminar will shine a light on talented young individuals who have proven their artistic merit, particularly given the evolving landscape of cinematic ideas.
The festival aims to nurture these talents and pave the way for their success in the film industry and is committed to embracing new cinematic visions, even if it means taking risks outside of traditional market calculations.
By giving young creatives a chance, everyone benefits, as audiences are eager to discover and support promising new voices.
El-Basousy highlighted recent successes like Essam Omar and Taha El-Desouky’s Eid 2025 film ‘Siko Siko’, directed by Omar El-Mohandes, and the two-part film ‘El-Harifa’ starring Nour El-Nabawy and Kozbra, directed by Raouf El-Sayed, as examples of how investing in young talent can pay off.
As a result, the Hurghada Youth Cinema Festival is organized by the Fonoun Foundation for Culture and Media, with backing from the Ministries of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports, and the Red Sea Governorate.
The festival features competitions for first-time directors and authors, focusing on youth-related themes in both long and short films, as well as a dedicated student film competition.
